Managing departments within your organization is key to maintaining a well-structured HR system. In BrioHR, Admins can easily add, edit, or delete departments to ensure accurate employee organization and reporting.

Step-by-Step Guide: Managing Department List in BrioHR
A) Add a New Department
Log in to your BrioHR account.
1. Go to Settings > Departments.
2. Click Add Department.

3. A pop-up window will appear for you to add a new department name
- (Optional) Set a colour indicator to help visually distinguish the department.
- (Optional) Assign a Head of Department (HOD) for the new department.
4. Click Save to confirm.

B) Edit a Department Details in BrioHR
Log in to your BrioHR account.
1. On the Departments page, locate the department you wish to update (e.g., Human Resources).
2. Click the pencil (edit) icon next to it.

3. Modify the department name, colour indicator, and Head of Department.
4. Click Save to apply your changes.
NOTE:
Any updates made will automatically reflect in employee profiles associated with that department.
C) Delete a Department in BrioHR
IMPORTANT:
You cannot delete a department if employees are still assigned to it.
The system will display a warning message listing the assigned employee. Unassing those employees before proceeding.
1. On the Departments page, find the relevant department (e.g., Management).
2. Click the bin (delete) icon.

3. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
4. Click Confirm to proceed with deletion.

NOTE:
If the department is not linked to any employee, deletion will proceed without issue.
Common Issues When Managing Departments in BrioHR
- Unable to Delete Department
- Ensure no employees are assigned to the department before attempting to delete it.
- Changes Not Reflecting
- If department edits don’t appear in employee profiles, refresh the system or check user permissions.
