Clock-In Issues and After-Shift Returns: a Troubleshooting Checklist
Why clock-ins fail (final clock-out done, no active shift) and the two supported ways to handle ad-hoc returns to work after the shift.
Two likely reasons:
- Final Clock-Out was already done — once an employee taps Final Clock-Out, the workday is officially closed and further clock-ins that day are blocked.
- No active shift covers that period — the system needs an active assigned shift to allow a clock-in, so ad-hoc work outside scheduled hours is not recognised.
Method 1 — Manager assigns a second shift:
Go to Team > Time Attendance > Rostering, hover over the day, click +, select a shift covering the ad-hoc period, then Publish Rostering.
Method 2 — HR assigns a second shift:
Go to HR Lounge > Time Attendance > Rostering, search the employee, hover over the day, click +, add a shift for the ad-hoc period, then Publish Rostering.
Quick fix: Clock In button not responding at allIf tapping Clock In does nothing:
- Reinstall the BrioHR app first — this resolves most unresponsive-button cases.
- If the issue persists after reinstalling, contact support so the team can investigate the account.
Q: Can we capture an employee's location when they clock in/out during field visits?
Yes — this can be enabled through the Geolocation feature: HR Lounge > Time Attendance > Policy > select the policy > Other Configuration > Geolocation > enable the toggle. If the employees are not required to be at a fixed location, ensure No Restriction is selected there.
