In this tutorial, we'll showcase the latest enhancement to the Performance module: rating rounding. With this feature, you can precisely define the label for the score rating assigned to your employees.
Rating Rounding Options
You have the option to either round down or round up the labeling, particularly when the score falls in the middle range.
By default, rating scores are categorized as follows:
- Less than 0.5 (<0.5), for example, 3.4 or 3.3, the rating label is one level below (e.g., Meets expectations).
- Equal to or greater than 0.5 (≥ 0.5), for example, 3.5 or 3.6, the rating label is one level above (e.g., Above expectations).
However, some companies prefer to round down or round up labels when scores fall in the middle range between two ratings.
NOTE:
Rating rounding is for adjusting the labels, not the scores!
Example Scenario
For better illustration, let's take an example of an employee named Vanessa.
Her overall rating is 3.7/5, which falls in the middle range between Rate 3 and Rate 4.
- If "Nearest" is chosen, the rating label will follow the default, which is 'Above expectations.'
- If "Round down" is chosen, the rating label will be one level below, which is 'Meets expectations' (Rate 3). Refer to Image 1 and Image 2.
- If "Round up" is chosen, the rating label will be one level above, which is 'Above expectations' (Rate 4). Refer to Image 1 and Image 3.
