BrioHR offers the capability to include Benefits in Kind (BIK) in your payroll while giving you the option to hide these benefits from the employee's payslip.
This feature is particularly useful when you prefer not to display this information on the payslip but still want it documented in the comprehensive payroll report.
This article is divided into three parts:
Part A: Enabling the 'Hide Benefits in Kind' Option in Payroll Settings
Part B: Configuring Custom Benefits in Kind (For Custom BIK Only)
Part C: Visualizing the Changes
Part A: Enabling the 'Hide Benefits in Kind' Option in Payroll Settings
- Log in to BrioHR and navigate to HR Lounge > Payroll.
- On the payroll dashboard, go to Settings > General.
- Scroll down to the 'Payslips' section.
Toggle ON the "Hide Benefits in Kind" option. - Save your changes.
Part B: Configuring Custom Benefits in Kind (For Custom BIK Only)
NOTE:
If the Benefit in Kind pay item you want to add is a custom pay item, ensure it is configured correctly.
For default BIKs, configurations are pre-set.
To verify:
- Go to Payroll Center's Settings > Salary Allocation & Default Items > See the list of Payroll Items.
- Find the pay item. If it’s a custom pay item, an "Edit" icon will be visible. Click Edit to check its configuration.
- Look for [Benefit in Kind] and ensure "Yes" is selected.
- Save your changes.
Part C: Visualizing the Changes
- For example, a customized Benefit in Kind titled "Work From Home Devices (BIK)" is added to an employee's June 2023 payroll with an amount of RM 3,100. This BIK pay item is recorded in the June 2023 payroll report and payroll breakdown.
- After enabling "Hide Benefits in Kind" in the settings (as explained in Part A), the BIK pay item is hidden from the employee's payslip.
