Learn how to enable or disable prorated leave in BrioHR's Leave Module. Understand the different prorate options available, such as Yearly Basis, and how leave entitlements are calculated for employees joining or leaving mid-year.
How to Enable/Disable Prorated Leave
To enable or disable prorated leave for specific policies, follow these steps:
- Go to HR Lounge > Leave.
- Select the applicable leave type and policy.
- Under Entitlement, locate the Prorated Leave section.
- Toggle the Prorate Leave option ON or OFF.
In BrioHR, there are two types of prorated leave options:
-
Yearly Basis: This applies to employees who join or leave in the middle of the year. You can choose from three options:
- Started Month: Count the full month for employees who join during the month.
- Completed Month: Exclude the month if the employee leaves before it ends.
- Partial Month: Prorate leave based on the number of days worked in the month.
Example: Prorated Leave Calculation
Scenario:
- Annual Leave Entitlement: 14 days.
- Employee joins on March 15.
Options:
- Started Month: The full month of March is counted. The employee receives 14 days of annual leave.
- Completed Month: March is excluded, and leave is prorated for the remaining months of the year.
- Partial Month: Leave is prorated based on days worked in March. For instance, working 16 out of 31 days would calculate leave proportionally.
-
Monthly Basis: For each month served, a percentage of the annual leave entitlement is credited to the employee. Click here to learn more.
