An HR Admin with access to the HR Lounge and Time Attendance module can mark an employee as "absent" if they have not clocked in for the day.
HR Admins can also perform this task on behalf of a manager.

Why HR Admin Need to Mark Employees as Absent
This ensures that the employee’s attendance is accurately recorded in their daily timesheet. The company can then assess whether further action is needed for employees who frequently miss work without valid reasons.
Where Can HR Admin Update Absentee Status?
HR Admin can mark employees as absent from two locations:
- From the Daily Attendance page.
- From an employee's timesheet page.
Step-by-Step Guide to Marking Absences in BrioHR
Login to your BrioHR account.
1. Navigate to the HR Lounge tab.
2. Click on the Team Attendance menu.
Method 1: Via the Daily Attendance Page
1. Click on the Daily Attendance tab. By default, you will see today's date.
2. Click on the status option "Not in" in to filter for employees with no clock in record. The number indicates how many employees have not clocked in for the day.
3. The employee's status will display as "Not-in" with an "NCI" tag (Not Clocked In).
4. Click the "Mark As Absent" button.
5. A confirmation message will appear. The status will remain "Not-in", but the "NCI" tag will be removed.
6. A remark under the Action column will indicate the absence.
Undo an Absence Mark:
Click the "↺" (undo) icon to undo absent.
Method 2: Via the Timesheet Page
1. Click on the Timesheet tab. By default, you will see the current month’s timesheet.
2. Search for the team member's name in the Search bar.
3. Click on the team member’s name or select "Open in New Browser" to open their timesheet.
4. Locate the specific date and click "Mark as Absent".
5. A confirmation message will appear. The "NCI" tag will be removed.
6. The employee's absence will be recorded under the Action column.
Undo an Absence Mark:
Click the "↺" (undo) icon to undo absent.

Q: Can I mark multiple employees as absent at once?
A: No, you can only mark employees as absent one at a time from either the Daily Attendance page or the Timesheet page. On the Daily Attendance page, you can filter employees who haven't clocked in by selecting the red "Not In" status. This will show all employees who have not clocked in for the day.
Q. Can I undo the "absent" status for multiple employees at once?
A: No, just like marking an employee as absent, you must undo it one at a time. This can be done manually by clicking the "undo" icon in the Actions column.
