Public Holiday Update for Selangor SUKMA Victory Holiday (1st September 2026).

With brioHR, no action is needed as we’ve updated our system to reflect the latest holiday arrangement for SUKMA Victory Holiday in Selangor.

The Selangor Government has declared 1st September 2026 as a special public holiday in Selangor to commemorate the state contingent’s victory as the overall champion of the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

Official announcement : Selangor declares Sept 1 public holiday after Sukma victory 

 

To reflect this announcement, 1 September 2026 has been added into brioHR as a public holiday for all offices in Selangor.

NOTE:

This SUKMA Victory Public Holiday is automatically added for offices with the 'State' chosen as 'Selangor'. 

To review the configuration of the Offices created in the system, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings > Offices.
  2. Select the relevant office and click Edit (green pencil icon).
  3. Under the Basic Configuration, refer to the State chosen

To disable the Public Holiday, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Offices.
  2. Select the relevant office and click Edit (green pencil icon).
  3. In the "Edit an office" window, navigate to the Public Holidays tab.

  4. Toggle off "Selangor SUKMA Victory Holiday"

  5. Click Submit to save your changes.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What if the employee has already submitted a leave on this additional Public Holiday?

A: You will need to manually cancel the leave submitted by the employee to return the leave entitlement back to the employee's leave balance. Otherwise, if the ability to modify past approved leaves have been enabled within the policy, you can edit the dates of the leave submitted to exclude this date. Modifications made to the leave submission will trigger the approval workflow in the system.
