How to Assign Shifts on Rest Days in BrioHR Time Attendance Rostering
Learn how to assign shifts on rest days in BrioHR time attendance rostering for HR Admin to ensure correct overtime rate calculations. Step-by-step guide.
Introduction
HR can help manage employees’ weekly and/or monthly rosters on behalf of their managers. This includes assigning shifts on rest days to ensure overtime is calculated according to the correct rest day rate and allow employees on shift-basis to clock in on their rest days.
Why Assign a Shift on a Rest Day?
Assigning a shift on a rest day:
-
Allows employees to clock in.
If no shift is assigned on a rest day, the employees are unable to clock in.
-
Ensures the system applies the correct overtime rate calculation for rest day.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: I have assigned a shift on a rest day, but why doesn't the system calculate overtime rate for that date?
A: If the employee’s schedule is not set as "Full Day" on the rest days (e.g, Weekends) , then by default, no shift will be assigned on that date, and it will appear as Rest Day.
When you assign a shift on a rest day in BrioHR rostering, a blue label (refer sample below) will appear on the shift. This indicates that the shift falls on a rest day and that the overtime calculation will follow the rest day overtime rate when employee clocks in.
