If something doesn't match
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No Clock In button | The roster isn't published, or there is no shift that day | Publish the roster, or add a shift on the Rostering page |
| "Use Mobile App for Clock In/Out" on the web | The policy has location checks or facial recognition | Clock in on the mobile app, or change the policy if that wasn't intended |
| Can't clock in again later the same day | The employee tapped Final Clock Out | Add the missing time in Daily Attendance, and show the employee how to clock out for a break |
| Clock-in blocked on the mobile app | Outside the allowed location, or location permission is off | Check the shift or custom locations, and the app's location permission |
| Late when they arrived on time | Late (In) on the shift is blank or earlier than you meant, lateness rounding rounds up, or a longer break with Track break lateness on | Check the shift's Late (In) and break settings, and the policy's lateness rounding |
| Overtime missing or shorter than expected | Calculate Overtime is off, the overtime buffer wasn't passed, Earliest (In) or Late (Out) caps it, rounding rounds down, or the policy needs overtime to be pre-approved | Check the policy's overtime settings and rounding, and the shift's Earliest (In) and Late (Out) |
| Employee missing from a supervisor's Team view | They are in a policy with a different supervisor, or still in the Default policy | Check their policy in Assign Policy, and its Supervisor & Approval |
| New joiners or transferred employees follow the Default policy's rules | Employees aren't moved out of the Default policy automatically | Assign them to the right policy with Assign Policy |
| Wrong shift or rest days on the roster | Wrong schedule, wrong office schedule, or a wrong reference date on a custom pattern | Check Assign Schedule, the office and the schedule's pattern, then reset the roster |
| The roster still shows the old shift | Shift and schedule changes don't update rosters already filled in | Reset or replace the affected days on the Rostering page, then publish again |
| Two shifts on one day | A shift was added instead of replaced | Remove the extra shift and publish again |
| A timesheet can't be approved, or shows Incomplete | The roster for that week or month isn't published, or a clock-out is missing | Publish the roster, and add the missing clock-out in Daily Attendance or the timesheet |
| Days marked Absent | No clock-in or clock-out when the timesheet was approved | Reopen the timesheet and add the attendance, if the employee did work |
| Shift premium not showing | The shift has no tag, the premium isn't added to the policy, or the schedule uses flexible hours | Check the shift's tags and the policy's Shift Premiums & Deductions |
| Timesheets can't be sent to payroll | An overtime pay item in the mapping was deleted or is no longer marked as overtime | Fix the OT Payroll Mapping for that payroll center |
| Employee not on the attendance device | Their Employee ID has hyphens, spaces or slashes | Change the Employee ID to letters and numbers only, then sync again |
| The template's example shift is listed | The "Mon to Fri" example row was left in the Work Shifts tab | Tell your IM so it can be removed |

Ready to sign off
- ☐ Every work shift has the right times, break, Earliest and Late times, tags and locations (Step 1).
- ☐ Every work schedule has the right hours, public holiday setting, work arrangement, pattern and shifts (Step 2).
- ☐ Every office follows the right schedule, and employees who work differently have their own (Step 3).
- ☐ Every policy has the right eligibility, supervisor, rounding and clock-in settings. Every employee, including new joiners, is in the right policy, and the right policy is marked Default (Step 4).

- ☐ Time Attendance access, report access and payroll access are set up (Step 7).
- ☐ Rosters for the first period after go-live are correct and published (Step 8).
- ☐ Every clock-in method has been tried and works, and trial hours worked, lateness, early outs and overtime match your current system (see How to Run a Time Attendance Trial Before Go-Live).
- ☐ You know how the trial's attendance records will be handled before go-live, and every discrepancy has been noted and resolved with your IM.
What happens next
- Once the checks above are done and your trial matches, Time Attendance is ready for go-live. Keep an eye on the first week: check Daily Attendance each day for missing clock-ins and clock-outs.
- Let employees and supervisors know when to start clocking in and approving on brioHR (see the articles below). The Time Attendance Starter Guide also has a Manager view and an Employee view you can share with them.
- Each month: check new joiners have the right schedule and policy, publish rosters, check daily attendance, approve overtime and timesheets, then send approved timesheets to payroll.
- If a check does not pass and you cannot see why, contact your Implementation Manager.
- If you find a problem after going live, reach out to our support team via live chat or email: support@briohr.com.
